Synopsis
In Unseen World Dansema Dance Theater from Lithuania invites the youngest audiences to encounter dance for the first time. The interactive performance for babies aged between six and 18 months is entirely non-verbal, opening an experiential space that focusses on touch, movement and curiosity. Together with two dancers, the children discover colours, shapes, surfaces and rhythms, exploring the world with all their senses.
Two years of artistic research have led to a concept that makes dance not only visible but also physically tangible. Instead of a performance that is watched from a distance, a protected space is created within which the children can move freely, follow the impulses provided by the performers and become part of the action themselves.
Unseen World was also devised for blind and visually impaired children and for young neurodiverse audiences. A sensitive work that shows that dance begins long before our first words and develops through touch, perception and shared experiences.
